Coaching is:
Coaching is a game for high stakes: happiness. You come to be coached because you want to be happy, or happier. Many people do not know how. Happiness is not a prescription you can go and have filled by a happiness chemist. It is not something you possess, but something you are. It is a choice you make. It is what you experience. It comes from inside. Happiness is in the everyday details of life.
Coaching is about increasing self-awareness: finding out where you are and looking for ways to move forward. And moving forward honoring your highest values, knowing fully your perspectives and options, and experience life to the full.
Coaching holds you as naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. That you have the answers, that there’s nothing to be fixed, that you are hungry to learn and grow and become ever more effective human beings.
A coach is:
A coach is a magician who is curious about the cards you have and empowers you to play your hand better, or sometimes to change the rules of the game, or find a better game. A coach is also a freedom fighter: freedom from circumstances you do not want; freedom to choose what you want. A coach is a mature lover: always has room for your fears and limitations, and is committed to only interact with your magnificence.
The coaching relationship:
There’s real power in the coaching relationship. This power, like happiness, is not an object you can possess; it is co-created by you and your coach. Even more relevant than skill level, experience and specific expertise of the coach, is how connected you feel with them. A successful coaching relationship has deep trust, safety and connection. You trust the relationship will empower you to achieve your definition of success.
Why organisations need coaching too:
Let’s talk business too. Coaching can change business by helping the people in it to dream better dreams and to make those dreams real. The more people develop themselves, and the more a company develops its people, the more valuable they are to the company. Coaching is one of the most cost-effective and focused ways to do this. The three areas that I am most passionate about are self-knowledge, relationships, career and leadership. They are very much connected, and changes in one area will positively impact the others. I coach:
- Individuals (personal or executive coaching) – when you would like 1:1 sessions to deep dive into the topics of your interest
- Couples – we can start with 1:1 with each of you, then move on to coaching with the both of you
- Teams – when you need a different mindset to communicate
