Coaching is an important personal decision. It is an investment your organization makes in the people. You want to be sure that your coach is qualified, competent, experienced and a good fit to you.
Questions to ask prospective coaches:
- Are you professionally trained and certified from an International Coach Federation (ICF) accredited institution?
- What standards, ethics and guidelines do you adhere to?
- Do you have a coaching agreement?
- How do you ensure confidentiality?
- Do you have a coach yourself?
- What do you do on an on-going basis to improve yourself?
- What experience, skills or abilities do you have that matches my needs?
- What kind of clients are you passionate about working with?
- What makes you a fabulous coach?
Questions to ask yourself:
- Do I have a sense of rapport, trust and confidence with this coach?
- Do I feel understood, respected and held to my best self by this coach?
- Do I feel safe to bring ANY topic to be coached on with this coach?
- What is my intuition telling me about this coach?
Getting started with Lin and commitment involved:
Coaching starts with a 1.5 hour in person or phone Discovery Session. You can choose to include an Enneagram type exploration interview for you to understand yourself at a deeper level. This session sets the foundations for all future coaching sessions.
Next, goals for your coaching are identified following by designing the coach-client alliance on how to work together.
After that, you receive 2-3 sessions per month that involve focused conversations, deep explorations and designing action steps to help you achieve your goals. These sessions are 30-60 minutes in length depending on your needs. Most coaching is done by phone with emails in between to follow up. Development takes time; commitment required is typically 3-6 months.
